Greetings All,
I am employed in the financial services industry and, as one might imagine, sometimes crave a creative outlet for my amateurish journalistic tendencies.
I realise that my daily life is likely not sufficiently enthralling to warrant daily commentary, nor do I likely possess the journalistic brilliance to render it so.
With the above in mind, for my sanity, and hopefully your enjoyment, I have started a weekly series covering inspirational moments from Olympic Games past, creatively entitled Sporadic Inspirational Olympic Moments (“SIOM”).
I intend to publish a tale of triumph over adversity, perseverance in the face of overwhelming odds or sheer athletic brilliance (perhaps even a combination of these) every week until the London 2012 Games.
There is a “back catalogue” of past instalments, previously sent via a mailing list, now formalised here following some much appreciated encouragement (thanks Oli B and Dave S). Note that the quality, content and structure of these instalments have progressively evolved (hopefully for the better) such that the more recent ones are better.
I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I enjoy putting them together. I value your thoughts, comments and input, across the spectrum of constructive criticism to courteous compliment.
